Indra demonstrates impressive business growth to local MP

22 November 2022

Innovative British smart energy technology business, Indra, welcomed local MP, Harriett Baldwin, to its Malvern HQ this month.

Founded in 2013 by Mike Schooling, from Malvern, Worcester, Indra is a leading manufacturer of electric vehicle (EV) home chargers and smart energy software development, and employs over 100 people in the area.

During the visit, Ms. Baldwin was given a tour of the company’s facilities, including the production line where the Indra team assembles its innovative EV smart chargers. Designed to enable EV drivers to charge their vehicles during cheaper and greener energy periods, Indra’s award-winning products are renowned for their high quality, sleek design, reliability and eco-smart charging features.

Commenting on the visit, founder and CTO, Mike Schooling, said:

“Ms. Baldwin, who is a long-time champion of local business, first visited us five years ago when we were a small start-up with four employees. It was great to be able to show how far we have come since then and demonstrate our pioneering bidirectional charging technology.”

Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, commented: “I was really impressed at the way Indra has grown so rapidly and it is now working at the cutting edge of the electric vehicle revolution delivering towards our national net zero ambitions.

“Mike Schooling and his team are doing some amazingly innovative things and I was keen to meet with him to understand how his business can grow further and what I can do to help.

“Indra is fast becoming one of our most impressive local business heroes and I hope that the business continues to go from strength to strength.”

In addition to its smart EV chargers, Indra has also developed the first domestic bidirectional (V2X) charger. This ground breaking technology enables power to flow both ways - into a vehicle to charge it and also to flow out of the EV’s battery to be used elsewhere.

Mike Schooling added;

“This game-changing technology is really exciting as it will ultimately enable EV owners to use their vehicles as a convenient battery on wheels that can power their homes as well as their travel. It’s a truly intelligent charging solution that supports a sustainable energy future.”
