World EV Day™ 2025 is here, and this year it’s all about ‘sharing the spark’. It’s a global celebration, held every year, specifically designed to spark conversations, share innovation, and inspire drivers everywhere to think electric.
At Indra Renewable Technologies, World EV Day™ is more than just a date in the calendar – it’s a chance to highlight our mission to make EV charging smarter, simpler, and more sustainable, offering the greatest money savings possible for EV drivers.
One of the first EV charger manufacturers in the sector, Indra was established in 2013 with a mission to create the smartest way to power EVs. With our design, R&D, engineering and manufacturing operations all based in the heart of the UK, we’re one of the country’s leading EV and smart energy technology businesses.
From pioneering vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology and trials to delivering high-performance, smart home EV chargers, we’re proud to be leading the way in supporting the clean transport revolution.
“World EV Day™ isn’t just about recognition, it’s about action,” said Simon Tate, Chief Commercial Officer. “At Indra, our focus is on making EV charging smarter, faster and more reliable. We’re committed to giving drivers and businesses the confidence that charging is easy, accessible and cost-effective. By removing barriers to EV adoption and delivering the highest-quality charging solutions, we’re helping the UK lead the way towards a cleaner, greener future.”

This World EV Day, we’re celebrating with action by shining a light on the colleagues who’ve already made the switch to electric. We gathered a group of EV-driving team members outside our headquarters for a celebratory photo — and if you look closely, you might just spot one of them proudly perched on their EV!
We also asked some of our staff to share, in their own words, what they love most about their EVs.

Phill Brookes-Maddicks is the Sustaining Team Lead in Training and Installations. He has been a part of the Indra team for over three years. He is a fully qualified electrician, amongst his other skills. Phill drives a Tesla Model Y, which he has had for two years now.
Cara Zikking is the Key Account Manager at Indra, and she has worked for the company for four years. A keen eco-warrior, she has fully embraced a more environmentally friendly lifestyle with solar panels, a ground source heat pump and the family EV. Cara drives a Vauxhall Mokka, which she has had for a year.

Martin Folkesson is a Team Lead in the Embedded Software Team. He has worked at Indra for a year now. He has been driving a Nissan Leaf since April, which has been installed to operate on V2G/V2H. This can offer even more savings, where the car can help power the house or sell energy back to the grid. See more in our blog section on V2G/V2H.
Why does it matter? Because EVs aren’t just about cars, it’s about creating healthier cities with reduced air pollution, tackling climate change, and creating energy independence.
World EV Day™ 2025 is a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and to inspire action for the future. For Indra, it reinforces our promise to not just talk the talk, but to keep innovating, delivering and leading the charge to an eco-friendlier future, dedicated to making sustainable driving the norm, not the exception.
