Electronic Design Engineer

We are looking for an Electronic Design Engineer to join our award winning team to work on the development of our technology consumer products.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Electrical & Electronic Team Lead, you will develop the electronic engineering capability and performance of the business, with key responsibilities including:

  • Electronic development from requirements capture, design and prototype, through to production readiness and cost-down

  • Working to, developing and implementing processes in line with best practice and our quality management system

  • This is a varied role with diverse technical challenges so would suit a strong electronic engineer with broad skills who enjoys working across the full product lifecycle

  • Performing other reasonable tasks in line with business requirements

Essential Skills:

  • HND or Degree-qualified in Electronic Engineering, or equivalent, with 5+ years related experience preferably within consumer product development

  • Experience in the following technical areas:

    • Schematic capture and PCB design; preferred design package being KiCAD

    • Experience of electronics design using embedded solutions

    • Process improvement

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with limited supervision

  • Thorough understanding of the lifecycle, through life costs, configuration control, safety and environmental aspects of product development

  • Demonstrable experience of managing electrical and electronic sub-assembly development from requirements capture through options development, concept design, scheme design, detailed design and manufacture through to installation, testing and commissioning

  • A proven track record of delivering technical solutions within challenging timescales

  • Exceptional eye for detail and an emphasis on quality in day to day work practices

  • Champion safe working practices within the design process and the workplace

  • Knowledge of operating within an ISO 9001 quality system

Desirable Skills:

  • Product / sub assembly testing and certification

  • Developing CE marked products

  • Design for EMC compliance

  • Design of power electronics

  • Experience with version control and issue tracking software

  • Knowledge of electric vehicle charging standards (CHAdeMO, CCS, J1772, IEC 61851)

  • Demonstrable experience of productionisation and cost down of existing products

  • A desire to be challenged and to contribute to the success of the business
