Chief Engineer

We are looking for a Chief Engineer to help develop Indra's engineering function at both a strategic and operational level. As Chief Engineer, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team covering all elements of hardware, firmware / software, electronics, production and quality engineering, having ultimate accountability to OVO Group for delivering quality products on time and on budget.

You will need to have a good awareness of the external market, engage with relevant national and international regulatory bodies and develop relationships with key suppliers.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will develop and lead the engineering capability and performance of the business, with key responsibilities including:

  • Ownership of technical governance and quality of all deliverables

  • Technical leadership, mentoring and management of the engineering teams

  • Provide suitable guidance and judgement regarding methods, approaches, standards, and best practice

  • Support bidding activities and the production of detailed proposal documents from a technical perspective with responsibility for final technical sign-off

  • Manage task delivery against Time, Cost and Quality requirements

  • Support our design/engineering process through reviewing and checking colleagues work

  • Ownership of the strategic development of the teams technical capability

  • Provide strong technical representation for Indra to clients, providing reassurance of Indra’s technical ability and the overall quality of the work delivered

Essential Skills:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, and preferably a chartered Level Engineer or working towards Chartership

  • Highly experienced in Engineering best practices and how to embed and manage effective QMS processes

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with specific experience of developing engineering teams to meet business needs.

  • Demonstrable experience of cradle to grave design from requirements capture through options development, concept design, scheme design, detailed design and manufacture through to installation, testing and commissioning

  • A proven track record of delivering complete technical solution within challenging timescales

  • A desire to be challenged and to contribute to the success of the business

  • Ability to act as a mentor to the engineering team promoting continuous improvement and technical innovation

  • Solve problems at a project level using experience and lateral thinking within the context of the business

  • Champion safe working practices within the design process and the workplace

Desirable Skills:

  • Power electronics, specifically inverters, batteries systems and relevant additions

  • Mechanical and electrical design

  • Firmware / software development

  • Relevant consumer product guidelines and certifications to achieve

  • CE
